We awoke to a crisp, clear, cold morning in Leeds, enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the hotel, and boarded our coach for York. When we got on the coach, we learned that our dear driver, Darren, had received a ticket for parking in front of the hotel for us. It seems the hotel staff and the local traffic warden don’t operate by the same set of rules. However, within just a few minutes, the choir took up a collection to cover the ticket for Darren.
We drove to York, and were led on a one-hour walking tour of this ancient and historic city by our guide, Adrian Gladwin. We are discovering, with each passing day, just how knowledgeable Adrian is about the people, places, and customs of all the places we’re visiting. We had a little time for sightseeing and lunch, before gathering at York Minster for our 1:30 concert. Singing a capella in this magnificent cathedral was a wondrous and spiritual experience for us all. The sound was phenomenal! Many visitors gathered around to hear us. Surely God was in this place.
Following the concert, a professional photographer took the “official” tour choir photos outside the cathedral. We spent a little more time sightseeing, with some enjoying a cup of tea and scones.
We boarded the motorcoach, and drove on to Cambridge, arriving about 7pm. We checked in at the Menzies Cambridge Hotel, where some had dinner, while others ventured into the town for a quick bite to eat. We’ll be at this hotel for two night. We’re tired, but it’s a happy, satisfied tired.
