Daily Journal by Susan Rushing

This morning brought our first warm day! We had another of those wonderful full British breakfasts before climbing aboard the tour bus for Westminster Abbey. The majority of the tour choir toured the abbey with either Adrian, or his colleague, Ian, as our guide.

Following this tour, we went off in many different directions. Many went to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace; others went shopping at Harrod’s. Then Stuart took a group to the Cabinet War Rooms, and others went to various museums, like the British Museum and the Churchill Museum. Still others toured Kensington Palace, and at 2:00, a large group of us boarded a coach for Windsor Castle, about an hour outside of London. Many of us learned how to use the London “tube” and found it a quick and efficient way to move around London.

Most of us then gathered back at the hotel at 6:40pm for an evening at the Prince Edward Theatre and the fabulous musical “Mary Poppins”. It was an evening of sheer magic - Mary Poppins flying through the air, and Bert, the chimney sweep walking on walls and ceilings. The Banks family won our hearts as they came to realize the importance of kindness and love toward each other through the help of Mary Poppins and the other characters.

Tomorrow we leave for home. We return to our loved ones, full of stories to tell, and bonded together forever through the experiences we have shared. What a wondrous, joyful time we have had!
